To our wonderful community...
Unfortunately in 2020, we came to the conclusion that it was simply not realistic for us to go forward this summer and we decided to postpone the two productions in X Fest 2020: Theatre Under the Trees, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by Melissa Young and Red Riding Hood by Mike Kenny. We hope to present these two exciting family favourites in the future, just for you, in our happy little corner of Prince Charles Park.
But! We were not gone, we were just hibernating. We took this time to focus on our values and our commitment to the development of emerging artists in Kamloops. These are some developing projects we focused on: - We launched a new play development program called New Shoots. Plays developed through this process will have some public readings and just might end up on the summer stage in the future. - We will be opening up some of our mentorship opportunities for emerging artists. If you or someone you know is looking for some tips in design, QLab, puppetry, directing, playwriting, and more, send them our way. - Lastly, we do have some thoughts about ways to provide you with local entertainment from Kamloops favourites this summer. Keep an eye on your inbox for updates and links as our plans develop.
Look for the helpers
As you can imagine, planning and costs for the summer start early and we are committed to paying designers, directors, and administration for the work that they started before the cancellation. We so appreciate the support and commitment we received from sponsors: New Gold, HUB International, Big Steel Box, ideaLEVER, Interior Savings, Corix, and A&T Project Development. If you have the capacity to support us with some of the costs that we have incurred, we would deeply value your contribution.

A BIG thank you We love being a part of the Kamloops arts community, and we want to shout out some of the fantastic work being done by Western Canada Theatre, the Kamloops Arts Council, and the BC Alliance for Arts and Culture in advocating for the arts and culture sector during this challenging time. We will get through this and we know we will be stronger on the other side. Warm wishes from all of us, Randi & the Project X Theatre team.
