What I Learned At School focussed on a school shooting event in a fictional small Canadian town and explored many different perspectives. While the event portrayed was fictional, the company steeped their work in research, taking inspiration from such events as the shooting in Taber, Alberta in 1999, the more recent tragedy in Bailey, Colorado and others. As well, the company worked with several local highschool drama classes - perhaps the most inspirational of their research.
It was our hope that this production would challenge our audience, creating a dialogue that would carry them out into the night and beyond - encouraging each of them to discuss it, debate it and make it their own.
