With two summers of outdoor Shakespeare under their belts, Project X Theatre Productions decided that what the Interior of BC really needed was its own summer Shakespeare festival !
X Fest 2006 was born out of a need to bring classic theatre works to a broad audience, and of course, to offer enriching opportunities to emerging artists in our community.
Featuring the directing talents of Melissa Thomas and Samantha MacDonald, along with Derek Rein, X Fest merged the works of local emerging actors and 5 career actors with extraordinary results.
X Fest 2006 was ranked the second most important cultural event of 2006 by The Daily News, and featured the following actors: Danielle Dunn-Morris, Rachel Robillard, David Balser, Ryan Egan, Jim Maher, Kristopher Bouwmeester, Chris Cooley, Ben Dextraze, Rob Landers, Robert Hughes, Marietta Lucia, Samantha MacDonald, Desiree Maher-Schley, Derek Rein, Devon Stonehocker, Laura Wong, Tara Zannella.
"In this morning’s Globe & Mail, an article on leisure indicated that the highest purpose of leisure is to provide meaning. Please convey to the Project X troupe my gratitude for supplying me with a renewed sense of meaning. Your production of Elizabeth Rex is a small miracle." – G. Ratsoy
“I couldn’t help but think how great it is that this experience is happening for our community!”
– B. Berger
